We've used the NIV translation in compiling these questions. Other sources may differ slightly. Always review questions before using them with groups of kids to make sure they are the right degree of difficulty.
Divide your group of students into small groups of 4-5 students. Make sure there are at least 2-3 Bibles per group, paper and pencil. Assign each group a rather familiar story in the Old Testament. Here are a few examples:
Then give them these instructions:
1. Read your scripture through at least twice, listening for interesting details.
2. As a group, think of three trivia questions about your story, using what you've learned by paying attention to details.
3. Select one person to write the name of your story and scripture reference at the top of the page. Then s/he writes your trivia questions.
4. On a separate paper, another person writes, in order, the answers to the questions.
5. Everyone in the group checks that all questions and answers are correct. Then the group turns in the paper to the teacher.
6. When all the groups have finished, the teacher reads all the questions aloud. After each question is read, each group works together to find the answer. Someone writes our their answers. (Each group does not answer their own questions.)
7. At the end, the teacher reads all the answers. The group with the most correct answers wins a special privilege or a small prize.
